Glycerine Suppositories Rösch: Product description
Ideal for natural stool regulation and easy bowel movements. The suppositories have a gentle laxative effect and protect the intestinal flora. They can be used, for example, to treat haemorrhoids, those who are bedridden, children with constipation or after surgery when straining during bowel movements should be avoided.
Glycerine Suppositories Rösch: Effect
Glycerine suppositories are water-attracting, which stimulates the mucous membrane in the rectum to release water, thus making the stool more slippery.
Glycerine Suppositories Rösch: Use and indications
Gently insert a suppository into the rectum. Unless otherwise prescribed, it is best to insert the suppository in the morning shortly before getting up. After inserting the suppository, you should hold back evacuation for a while so that the hardened stool masses can soften sufficiently. This effect sets in after around 15 to 60 minutes.
Glycerine Suppositories Rösch can be used, for example, to treat haemorrhoids, those who are bedridden, children with constipation or after surgery when straining during bowel movements should be avoided.
Glycerine Suppositories Rösch: Ingredients
Glycerine, stearic acid, sodium carbonate
Each suppository contains at least 83% anhydrous glycerine
Good to know
What causes constipation?
On average, about 15% of the population suffers from constipation. But what are its causes? Constipation is often the result of an unhealthy diet (insufficient dietary fibre), lack of exercise, lifestyle changes (e.g. travelling), functional disorders (e.g. slow passage of intestinal contents or evacuation disorders), medication or stress.
Each person’s digestive system works slightly differently. For some, daily bowel movements are normal and for others bowel movements every second or third day are normal. Generally speaking, constipation is said to be present when someone exhibits several of the following symptoms: fewer than three bowel movements per week, the urgent need to defecate but without being able to do so, a feeling of incomplete evacuation, hard stools, heavy straining during defecation and/or the need for manual assistance.
If the above-mentioned symptoms persist, you should always seek medical advice. The causes of your constipation and treatment options should be discussed with a doctor. Often, a change in dietary habits – that is including vegetables and fibre combined with more exercise – will lead to the desired success.
Who are Glycerine Suppositories Rösch particularly suitable for?
- Babies and toddlers (28 days to 23 months): One 1g suppository
- Children over two years, adolescents and adults: One 2g suppository
- Adults (18 years and older) in persistent cases: One 3g suppository
What do I need to pay attention to when using suppositories?
In the case of babies and toddlers you should adhere to the recommended dose (1g suppositories). You should always seek medical advice in the case of a persistent lack of bowel movements. No restrictions on use are as yet known. In the case of chronic constipation, you can try to regulate bowel movements naturally by eating a diet that is rich in fibre (fruit and vegetables) and drinking sufficient fluids.
